Daily Selection Amazon Freebie Kindle Download

Silver Storm ~ Cynthia Wright

Today's selection was a book I managed to get hold of in early March, and is still available.  I am so behind on my reading, that I haven't started my copy yet.

I don't think that I have been seeing in on my recent searches, so I think this has come up again recently for freebie download ... honestly though, I couldn't swear for sure that is the case.  It is free at the moment though, and one can never be sure just how long they will be available free, so it might be a good idea to snap it up if you fancy reading it.  It doesn't eat or drink anything sitting around on your Kindle!

As usual you can find it quickly over at Amazon by clicking the large title just above the cover photograph, or click HERE.

This morning that my Amazon Reviewer status has improved to 20,716, which is going in the right direction.  Thank you to anyone that has taken the time to leave positive feedback over there for me, it is very much appreciated..

I would love to improve upon this .... I would love to get to the top 1,000 .... so if you find the Daily Kindle Download info useful please go over to my Reviews on Amazon and leave me some positive feedback - which helps my rating, and will earn you my grateful thanks.

Daily Selection for Amazon Freebie Download

Almost a Bride (Wyoming Wildflowers Book 1)

The choices were a bit thin on the ground today, but in the end I stumbled across this one.  Although, it is out of my usual choice of genre the description seemed interesting, so I have decided to feature it.  To get the freebie Kindle download either click the large title above the photograph, or click HERE.

This morning that my Amazon Reviewer status has gone in reverse to 25,935,  which is more disappointing (but thank you to anyone that has taken the time to leave positive feedback over there for me).

I would love to improve upon this .... I would love to get to the top 1,000 .... so if you find the Daily Kindle Download info useful please go over to my Reviews on Amazon and leave me some positive feedback - which helps my rating, and will earn you my grateful thanks.

#312 (#30 of 2013) - Unleashed (A Heroes of the Highlands Trilogy) ~ Kerrigan Byrne *NEW AUTHOR

Description:

Meet the MacLauchlan Berserkers (Books 1 to 3) ...

Roderick

  • He's death for hire, cursed by a malicious enemy who left him unable to speak.
  • She's a refugee with a dangerous secret that could cost her life.
Outnumbered by thousands, he's fated to die in battle like so many Berserkers before him. Could the strength of their love defy destiny?

Connor

  • He's a mercenary Laird who fears nothing but the darkness inside him.
  • Born to a Ross mother and a Stewart father, she has been sold to the highest bidder.
He mistakenly rescues her from a fate worse than death, but now she's his captive. They must battle their pride and their explosive attraction to each other in order to defeat a common enemy who threatens the clan's survival.

Finn

  • He's a nameless bastard, stalking the Highlands bent on revenge and murder when he stumbles on an infant deserted in the snow.
  • She's a desperate woman who's lost everything, including her dignity.

They are three of the world's Unwanted. On a snowy Solstice night, their tale becomes one of blood and vengeance, of love, redemption, and forging the bonds that make a family.

Product Details:

I managed to get this as a freebie Kindle download in December (that's how far behind I am with my reading), but at the time of writing this post is is listed as £4.07 for the Trilogy.

It is 275 pages, and according to Amazon "contains real page numbers".  I've not come across that before, so it will be interesting to see how that works.  Actually, it is something that I've often discussed with my Mother, as that is the one thing she misses reading on the Kindle.

* * * *

Summary:

One word sums this Trilogy up ..... AWESOME.

Without a doubt of the best modern writing I have come across in some time.

Smoothly written with a flowing plot ... obviously the plot was a little similar in all three of the books ... as those Beserkers' need and find mates in a prescribed fashion.  It didn't detract at all from the overall experience.  I can't actually remember seeing any spelling, editorial or grammatical errors, but remain fairly unnoticed amongst the whole entity of this creation.

If you find the time to read anything this year, make it this.  Even though it's not available as a free download anymore, I would still happily pay the price requested to read something this good.

Kerrigan Byrne should be heartily congratulated and celebrated for the creation of this stunning piece of literature.

What more can I say .... I want a Beserker!

5+ star rating all the way.

Daily Selection for Kindle Free Download at Amazon

Black Sam ~ Mat McLeod

I'm a girl who just can't say no to a Pirate, so today's selection is an offering by a man no less, Mat McLeod.

I don't usually read much written by me, but I thought I would give it a whirl.   To get your hands on this freebie Amazon Kindle download there there is a link just above the photograpah, or you can get to it by clicking HERE.

It was classified Mens' Adventure > Historical Fiction, but upon reading the book description there appears to be element of Romance in their ... or, at least one can hope as it is written from a male point of view ... if you know what I mean ladies!

I am utterly gripped by the Heroes of the Highlands Trilogy at the moment (which I snagged as a freebie before I started posting the daily selection), so it could take me a while to get to this book.  I don't think I saw it on there yesterday, and there are no reviews written, so I think it is quite a New Release.  As I've said before you can't hang around with the freebies, as they sometimes disappear very quickly.  In truth, that's why I have a huge backlog - I snap them up as I see them.  Currently I have 127 items on my Kindle ... how many does it take?

This morning that my Amazon Reviewer status has only gone a couple of places to 25,863, which is disappointing, but thank you to anyone that has taken the time to leave positive feedback over there for me.

I'm a woman though, and that's just not good enough LOL!.  I would love to improve upon this .... I would love to get to the top 1,000 .... so if you find the Daily Kindle Download info useful please go over to my Reviews on Amazon and leave me some positive feedback - which helps my rating, and will earn you my grateful thanks.

On a personal note ... Happy Birthday Mother.  75 today and demonstrating that there is hope for us all.

#311 (#29 of 2013) - The Bedford Beauty ~ Erika Hunter *NEW AUTHOR

Description:

Alice is the beautiful, free spirited daughter of Sir William Fulton and an ambitious matchmaking Lady Fulton who wants to see her daughter marry into the aristocracy. Alice is content with this plan until her brother and his best friend, Blake Hadley, return from the Peninsula War. She is unprepared for Blake's transformation from youth to man, and is torn between duty and love when Blake, a farmer's son, awakens a passion in her she has never felt before.

Product Details:

I managed to get this as a freebie Kindle download, however it is currently listed as 77p.

In view this is a might expensive for a Novella of 82 pages, which you can pick up full length books for less than that.  Until I review it though, it is probably unfair to comment on the price.

Classification Fiction > Romance > Historical

* * * *

Summary:

Short, but quite sweet novella.  Again, it was a freebie Kindle download that I managed to bag.

There were a few spelling/editorial errors here and there.

A 3 star read that would happily while away your time on a short journey, with a lovely end.

The only that that disappointed me is that the author could easily have expanded the plot to a fuller novella, or even a novel.  The quality of the writing would have stood up to that.

I would definitely read anything else she offered.

#310 (#28 of 2013) - Rutherford Park ~ Betina Frank *NEW AUTHOR

Description:

When headstrong Eleanor Grimsby arrives at the annual Rutherford Park summer house party she expects to find an Earl reputed unfit for his title, not a dashing young Lord with a devilish smile and wit to match her own.

The infamous Earl of Rutherford, Lord Drayton, has spent a decade travelling abroad in what the gossip pits describe as “a life of dissipation”. This is not completely fair. True he hated his title and estates and felt them a great burden, and on occasion found himself in some healthy debacles', but nothing too outlandish for a young Earl! His mother demanded he return, and so he returned. Who could say he was not dutiful?

By contrast Eleanor Grimsby is duty incarnate. She is the oldest of four orphaned, rich, beautiful sisters, who (thanks to a doting Aunt) are liberally educated and spoiled beyond reason. Full of spirit and fiercely loyal to her siblings, Eleanor Grimsby has made up her mind to reject love and marriage. When she meets Lord Drayton, the seeming antithesis of everything she knows and values, a mild house party is turned on its ear.

But this summer of lavish masquerades and exotic garden parties is not as fun and light-hearted as it seems. Lord Drayton has returned to England a victim of fraud. His fortune is in jeopardy, his estates are in danger of bankruptcy, and his sole suspect is courting his own mother. The introduction of a beautiful and stubborn Eleanor Grimsby only further complicates matters. He is after all not planning to stay in dreary England, nor is he planning to fall in love. But it is too easy to exasperate Miss Grimsby, and her look of indignation all too becoming. How can a man resist such temptation?

As Eleanor and Lord Drayton combat their desires, Drayton must also play detective as well as host and Eleanor must continually divert her younger sister from ruin. Rutherford Park, as the Grimsby sister’s Aunt says, “Will be left in shambles.”

Product Details:

I bagged this as a freebie Kindle Dowload, but at the time of writing this post it is showing as £1.27.

Medium sized at 230 pages.

* * * *

Summary:

The description for this book is going to be much longer than the review I'm afraid.

It had a very thin plot in places, all though taken overall it could be considered the thick end of mediocre.

That's not to say that I hated it, it just wasn't a brilliant read.  It contained minor inconsistencies with names and editing issues.

Overall a 3.5 read, although as Amazon doesn't have halves, I will rate it at a 3.  Even given the above, if I came across another one by this author as a freebie I would download it.

Becoming a Lady ~ Mary Higgins

Normal service is resumed with today's selection ... a nice little Novella.  To get your hands on this freebie Amazon Kindle download there there is a link just above the photogrpah, or you can get to it by clicking HERE.

It always pays to be quick getting them, as one day it's free and the next "pouffle" gone.

I was overly excited to find out this morning that my Amazon Reviewer status has gone down low, low, low to 25,921, so thank you to anyone that has taken the time to leave positive feedback over there for me.

Daily Selection for Free Kindle Download

New Atlantis Bundle (Books 1 to 3) - Nhys Glover

Now for something completely different for today's selection as a freebie Amazon Kindle download as a link at the top of this post, or by clicking HERE.

It is 165,000 words across the 3 books and is classified as Fiction > Romance > Futuristic/Fantasy/Ghost.  I wouldn't say it was my usual reading, but as it gives a lot of bang for absolutely no buck, and I'm trying to explore new genres I decided to feature it.  A review won't we forthcoming for a long time as I have so much reading material at the moment (most of it freebie downloads too), and I would be interested to know if anyone finds this one - or indeed any - of my selections worthwhile.

At the hospital yesterday Guy was asked to take part in a survey, and the lady doing it saw my Kindle and asked if I use it a lot (as apparently she does), we got chatting and she didn't know about freebies on Kindle .... so that's another convert to the blog!

My Amazon Reviewer status has risen a little bit to 33,395.  I would love to improve upon this though .... so if you find the Daily Kindle Download info useful please go over to my Reviews on Amazon and leave me some positive feedback - which helps my rating, and will earn you my grateful thanks.

#309 (#27 of 2013) - The Earl's Inconvenient Wife ~ Ruth Ann Nordin

Description:

Nathaniel Buford, Earl of Roderick, doesn't want a wife, but his brother died, passing on the title of earl to him. Now he is bound by duty to get an heir. Unfortunately, to get the heir, he must find a wife. As luck would have it, he gets caught in a scandalous situation not of his doing, and the next thing he knows, he's married...and to a lady whose family is reported to desire money above all else.

Miss Claire Lowell wanted to get married. But she never intended to marry a gentleman who felt trapped into it, and she certainly never thought her family would have a hand in the scandal that forced Lord Roderick's hand in marriage. Can love find a way to thrive under such conditions or will her father's eagerness to see her married off to an earl condemn her to a loveless marriage?

Product Details:

This was one of my Amazon Freebie Kindle Downloads from the other day, but I've just gone to update this post after reading it and I noticed that it's now listed as 77p.  Just shows you have to be quick sometimes to bag these free downloads.

It's not too long - 232 pages.

* * * *

Summary:

I had thought that I'd read this before, and after reading it ... I was right, I have read it before.

No matter it whiled away a morning spent in a Hosptial waiting room effectively.  It wasn't all that bad, especially as I bagged it as a Kindle Freebie download.  Although, it's currently listed at 77p.

Would I pay that for it .... the answer is probably yes I would, as it is 232 pages of undemanding writing by this author, with a little humour added in.  Other offerings by her I have in the past picked holes in, but this was average and contained some of the usual "Americanisms".

Additionally, I would very much like to find out if Perry finds a wife ... he deserves one I feel.

I always feel with Ms Nordin that if only she went just that bit further her books could be very, very good indeed.  They just lack a little something .... I don't think I can easily define exactly what that would be though.  Possibly if she developed the humorous, and added a little bit of meat to the plot (thus making her books a bit longer) that could do it.

As far as rating is concerned, I would say it was a 3.5 really, but as Amazon don't do half stars, I will go for a 3 stars.

Product Details:

351 pages.

I managed to bag this as a Freebie Kindle Download, but at the time of writing this post it is listed as 49p .... any way you look at that it's still a bargain.

* * * *

Summary:

A somewhat implausible story, but none the less I found it enjoyable.

Why? ... really could you just loose a Duke's Daughter just like that, even with the fire, and could you then just not notice that a boy the same age rocked up with the thinnest of stories?

It was another freebie, but at still only being offered at 49p it is a bargain in any language.

It was a decent paced plot, with likeable characters, although I did become a bit frustrated with the whole pity-fest from Derek towards the end.

I awarded 4 stars on Amazon as they don't do halves, but really it was a 3.5 read inadd details here

Daily Freebie Amazon Kindle Download Selection

The Earl's Inconvenient Wife ~ Ruth Ann Nordin

Actually, this one has been available as a freebie since before Christmas, so I thought it would be today's suggestion for the Amazon Kindle Freebie Download.

I've just started reading it myself, and have a vague recollection that I've read it/partially read it before, but what the heck, I haven't done a review on it.  As I can't remember the plot I'm going to push ahead this morning as I have some spare time and read it anyway.

A more dutiful maiden might cede to the Laird’s command and meekly accept her fate, but Madeline has never been obedient. She decides to run away, though she never dreams that Rhys will pursue her. She dares to believe him innocent
— and risks her own life to pursue a passion more priceless than the rarest gem.

Product Details:

This is another one that I managed to get as a Freebie Kindle Download before Christmas.

At the time of writing this post, it is currently showing as £2.99 (but has in fact been priced at a much higher price than that in the past).

400 pages long.

* * * *

Summary:

Well, this was yet another freebie Kindle Download that worked really rather well.

I was out of my comfort zone a little as this was based earlier than my usual Georgian era.

There was also the surprising addition of a little fairy jiggery-pokery written in.

I found it to be very lyrically written, and even the inclusion of the fairy seemed to work.  In fact, I would love to have heard more of the mischief she could unleash.

The characters were believable and worth investing in, and I look forward to adding the others in the series to my wish list, and would even be prepared to pay for them.

This is not a book that I would have felt cheated if I'd actually paid good money for it rather than gathering it into my reading fold as a freebie, and it earner it's 4 stars well.

#306 (#24 of 2013) - The Widow of Larkspur Inn ~ Lawana Blackwell *NEW AUTHOR

Description:

When Life Seemed Its Worst, Gresham Awaited

Julia Hollis' opulent life in Victorian London crashes to pieces when her husband passes away. Worse, she is told by his bankers that he gambled away their fortune. Now, the family's hope rests on The Larkspur, an old abandoned coaching inn in the quaint village of Gresham.

Driven by dread and her desire to provide for her children, Julia decides to turn the dilapidated inn into a lodging house. But can she--who was accustomed to servants attending to every need--do what needs to be done and cope when boarders begin arriving? And then an eligible new vicar moves into town...

Product Details:

I got this as a Kindle freebie download, but at the time of posting this it is available at £2.98.

Gresham Chronicles Part 1

* * * *

Summary:

Oh goodness me, yet another Christian book downloaded by mistake.  I must have been on completely the wrong section of the Kindle Store, as this is the second one in a row.

That having been said, bearing in mind that I got this as a freebie, I really wouldn't let the price of £2.98 put you off in any way, this was such a well written tale, with lovable and textural characters.

The pace of the plot was neither too fast nor too slow, in fact it perfectly paced to enjoy the experience as the plot unveiled layers of love, hope and faith.  There are also little sub-plots left to be pondered upon.

I wouldn't hesitate to award 5 stars, and am actively going to seek out more by this author.  She has written a whole series based around Gresham as well as other stories.

Daily Free Download from Kindle

Here is the offering for today of a freebie Kindle download from Amazon.

I've just had a quick look at the reviews, and it looks to be ok ..... but apparently, you need to suspend your link with reality to really engage with this book - the category is shown as Romance>Historical..  From the reviews, I am not completely sure that classification is correct, as it seems to be some kind mystical/fairy based piece of fiction.

In any event, it's another freebie, so why not give it a go, I've just downloaded it.
