#402 ~ Script Kiddie

Script Kiddie (Assured Destruction #2)Script Kiddie by Michael F. Stewart

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Book #2 in Assured Destruction Series

I was very kindly sent a copy of the second book in Michael's Assured Destruction Series in return for an honest Review.

I was pleased to see that this second book kept up the same high quality of writing, in particular the characterisation and plot pace were done really well. Jan's character has more added depth and texture, which is pleasing - girl power is always a good read!

I am still worried about Peter, and fear that he will prove to be a down and dirty villain, but am clinging to some hope that all will be well, as Jan and her Mother clearly deserve a break within the story line ... see that's what I mean about characterisation, they seem real, which is always the sign of decent literary ability.

Very few errors found (I will as usual add a list of them in the full Blog Post), kudos to Michael for a good quality product.

From me 5 Stars, and I am eagerly looking forward to finding out how this all pans out.

#401 ~ Assured Destruction

Assured DestructionAssured Destruction by Michael F. Stewart

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

#Book 1 in the Assured Destruction Series

This book was recommended by me on my Blog as a Daily Selection of a free Kindle file on Amazon.

I wasn't totally sure when I started reading this novella that it would be of interest, but happily I'm pleased to report that quality of writing and an interesting story line do wonders to engage a reader - which is exactly what this book provides.

The main protagonist, teenage computer wizz kid, Jan Rose proved to be an all action, dive right on in and blow the consequences kind of girl with layers of depth and texture that create a fantastic character.

The plot moved along nicely and delight of delights no errors or bug bears were picked up. I'd like to commend the Author, Michael Stewart for providing such a good read of nice quality. One particular sentence, even though short, stood out as an example of what writers should be aiming for: 'Without lights, the dreariness shrouds me like a cold blanket'.

There was a certain sub-character that had my teeth on edge, and that was the boyfriend of Jan's mother ... even at the end of the book I still hadn't made up my mind about him.

I am happy to say that this was the first book in a series, and I am eagerly looking forward to reading the next book "Script Kiddie", but for the time being for this book it's a big 5 stars from me.

My Daily (not quite) Selection for Free Kindle Download at Amazon

Okay, I'm sorry .... I know that the selections have been nothing like daily recently, but I thought I would share this one with you, whilst it's on free download HERE.  This is Book #1 in the Series, and Book #2 has now been released, which is called Script Kiddie.

Now for the description bit for this book:

You can learn a lot about someone looking through their hard drive ...

Sixteen-year-old Jan Rose knows that nothing is ever truly deleted. At least, not from the hard drives she scours to create the online identities she calls the Shadownet.

Hobby? Art form? Sad, pathetic plea to garner friendship, even virtually? Sure, Jan is guilty on all counts. Maybe she’s even addicted to it. It’s an exploration. Everyone has something to hide. The Shadownet’s hard drives are Jan’s secrets. They're stolen from her family’s computer recycling business Assured Destruction. If the police found out, Jan’s family would lose its livelihood.

When the real people behind Shadownet’s hard drives endure vicious cyber attacks, Jan realizes she is responsible. She doesn’t know who is targeting these people or why, but as her life collapses Jan must use all her tech savvy to bring the perpetrators to justice before she becomes the next victim.

Apologies for the scrappy nature of this post, but I'm busy trying to do my homework and work on the plan for my first Controlled Assessment.

My Daily Selection for Free Kindle Download at Amazon

Kindle Store > Books > Fiction > Fantasy > Epic
*Introducing a New Author to the Blog

I need to hurry with the post as the new TV adaptation of The Mill is about to start of Channel 4, and I don't want to miss a thing from it.

So, here is today's selection, which looks interesting, and has some good reviews.

Every five hundred years the phoenix dies.

Samiya, born-into-shadow, is soon to battle her born-into-light brother. Abandoned by their parents, neither wishes to play the preordained role of beast and hero. When their loved ones are taken hostage, they are forced to follow the path laid out in myth, culminating in a battle first fought six thousand years ago in ancient Cairo. A mythic clash where one defeats the other and both become gods.

To break free from their fates, Samiya and her brother must unravel a mystery twisted by cults, greed, and magic. But myth is a powerful force and failure to live up to it may not only destroy their lives but the lives of the ones they love most.

When the phoenix dies, the only certainty is flames.

Click HERE to download a copy of this début novel, which is currently listed for free.

I would love to get to the top 1,000 Reviewers' some day (my Status is show at the top of the Side Bar on the Blog) ....... so if you find the Daily Kindle Downloads info useful please go over to my Reviews on Amazon and leave me some positive feedback  on some of my reviews (which helps my rating, and will earn you my grateful thanks).
