#421 ~ The Governess Affair

The Governess Affair (Brothers Sinister, #0.5)The Governess Affair by Courtney Milan

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

#0.5 in the Brothers Sinister Series

Perfectly simple; perfectly delightful.

I just love a strong leading lady, and without a doubt Serena Barton qualifies. Headstrong and un-bendable, but justifiably so in this case. Life has been less than kind to her. Will she find love?

Courtney Milan is easy to read and an excellent story teller. Always a delightful read.

Another one of my DSOA picks from April 2013, so it was obviously free at the time.  I was just about to type the price details, and had a lovely surprise when I checked it on Amazon.  It's current still a freebie, so click HERE for your copy - obviously I'm not sure how much longer that offer will last.

Error/Bug Bears:

Ohhh what a joy, and a happy moment for me ... to realise that there were absolutely no notes regarding any errors or bug bears.  Kudos to the author for a fabulous all round product.

Happy reading.

#420 ~ Highland Song

Highland Song (Highland Brides, #5)Highland Song by Tanya Anne Crosby

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A Novella in the Highland Brides Series

This nicely written piece was un-demanding: just what is required sometimes.

Straight forward plot, and pleasant characters.

There is no doubt in my mind that I would re-visit this author. In fact, I've now downloaded The Highland Brides box set.

Product Details:

Another one of my DSOA's from last year, which means that it was,a free Kindle Download.  At the time of writing this review it's listed at 99p HERE.

That's really good value for money.

Errors/Bug Bears:

Loc 585: That tower was the very same from which his first wife had flung herself from in fury - I would same that there is a superfluous 'from'.

Loc 807: Smacked Dughall right upside the head - really in an historical novel?

Happy reading.

#419 ~ Shadows - Eternal Curse

Shadows (Eternal Curse, #2)Shadows by J. Dorothy

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Eternal Curse Series Book #2

Personally, I found the plot a little slow, but it may be that I was at a disadvantage by not having read the first book in the series.

There was nothing intrinsically wrong with it apart from that, on the whole well written and little in the way of errors or bug bears. Just a bit predictable.

I couldn't get excited about it, therefore 3 stars from me. If the rest of the series comes my way at any time as a freebie download I would probably give it a go, but as it stands I wouldn't spend any money on it.

Product Details:

This was featured as one of my freebie Daily Selections on Amazon in early April 2013.  You can find it HERE, but it's now listed at 77p - in actual fact that is a fair price for the book.

Errors/Bug Bears:

Only two items noted, which is really good going.

Loc 2081: We can go visit.  It's so well documented by now how much I hate that missing conjunction.

Loc 4473:  ... tucking in the duvetand - duvet and
